Epsom Martial Arts Centre Offers Subsidised Courses For Teenagers.

Alexandra Park Martial Arts Centre has obtained substantial funding to run introductory courses for teenagers, aimed at increasing health and fitness. This forms part of a national initiative called ‘sports unlimited' run by Sport England' and administered in Surrey by ‘Active Surrey' – Surrey's county sports partnership. The initiative is intended to draw ‘semi sporty' young people into taking part in more sport, with resultant benefits to their health, fitness etc.

Three courses will begin in mid Septemberl and run for 10 weeks, one hour a week. They will cover kung fu, kickboxing and Chinese Lion Dance.

Teacher Ethan Simmons is three times world champion and has trained tirelessly at the Martial Arts Centre for the last 12 years.

Thanks to the subsidy, a course will cost only £10.00. Participants must be 12-19 years old and live in Surrey. They will take place in the martial arts centre in Epsom's Alexandra Park – the only martial arts centre in the Borough of Epsom and Ewell.

Alexandra Park Martial Arts Centre is part of Nam Yang Pugilistic Association, an international martial arts group specialising in Shaolin kung fu and chi kung. Nam Yang was founded in 1954 by legendary kung fu master Ang Lian Huat. The UK branch is led by former world champion Iain Armstrong who teaches personally at the Alexandra Park centre.

Anyone interested in taking part should contact the martial arts centre on 01372 725 918 or info@namyang.co.uk
