OverviewThe Northern Championships held at Nuneaton, Coventry was a good event this year for Nam Yang. Taking a total of 26 medals from the event; 12 of which being Gold.
Whilst it was a long drive to get to the venue, we did lay on a mini bus for those without transport of their own; "the camaraderie was excellent".
On arrival at the venue everyone was in eager anticipation as we checked in and registered ourselves for our respective events.
It was very encouraging to see the support from our younger members' families in attendance; very much appreciated and a very big thank you.
"In addition a special thank you to Warren Mead School Banstead, Therfield School Leatherhead & Glyn technology school Ewell, for their support and assistance to our members who attend the above mentioned educational establishments".
After weighing in everyone got down to warming up and practicing their competition routines. Then suddenly after what seemed and age, the event opened with the adult female Qingda & the veterans Qingda.
The events continued throughout the course of the day without too much delay and still the atmosphere remained positive among our members - the support was un-equalled.
It was also nice to see friends from other clubs across the country doing well in their events and encouraging to see our members making new friends both within the club & to create rapport with competitors from rival clubs.
The traditional category was quite well supported given that it was only the events second time in operation and the judging panel worked very well together. This event definitely showed the promise of things to come by way of traditional Kung-Fu competition entries within the UK.
All in all a very successful day out. If you weren't there you missed out on a good day. Check your diary and make sure you make the next competition.
