Dear Member,

 

Here are details of what is happening within your club these next couple of months. As usual there's plenty for you to get involved with: -

 

Thai Boxing Seminar

 

There will be a 3 hour seminar held at the Epsom Martial Arts Centre, Alexandra Park, Epsom on Monday 14 th November 05 starting at 7.15pm till 10.15pm with Master Boon & his son Johnny. Master Boon has been teaching once per month on a Monday evening and has received a good response from our San Shou members. So if you fancy a go at Thai Boxing get yourself along! All members welcome!

This seminar is free to Nam Yang members and there is a £5 charge for non-members.

 

Holmbury Saint Mary Residential Training Weekends

 

Forthcoming dates for these advanced training weekends:

2005:

November 11th to 13th , December 2nd to 4th

 

 

2006:

January 13th to 15th , February 17th to 19th , March 17th to 19th , April 7th to 9th , May 5th to 7th , June 2nd to 4th .

If you want to attend one of these excellent intensive weekends that give you a better understanding of our art then please contact our Epsom centre for details and directions.

 

Chinese New Year Parade & Demonstration 2006

 

This forthcoming year is the year of the Dog (please feel free to make up your own jokes!), and as usual we will be the principal performers for the celebrations in Chinatown and Trafalgar square. The date for the parade and demonstration is the 29th January 06. As usual all of our member support is required!

 

Introduction to traditional Chinese Lion Dance course:

 

We will be running a six week course for anyone interested in getting involved with our lion dance performances and this exciting Chinese cultural activity. The course will include - the history of lion dance, How to hold and operate a lion head, the different types of lion heads etc. and you will learn all of the steps necessary to perform a basic dance with a 'green'.

The course will be held at the Epsom Martial Arts Centre, Alexandra Park, Epsom and starts on the Saturday 12th November 05 and will run consecutively to the 17th December 05. The cost is £30.

Times: Teens & Adults (13+) - 3.00pm - 4.30pm

Juniors (7-12) 5.00pm - 6.30pm

BCCMA Competition dates for 2006:

 

12 th February 06 - Maidstone;

30 th April - Reading - The junior National Championships;

17 th June - National San Da Championships;

18 th June - National Wushu Taolu Championships;

24 th September - Adult National Championships - Milton Keynes;

19 th November - Coventry

Development of our Association

 

We need further help with our organisation in order for Nam Yang to operate smoother and keep our members better informed. We are looking for volunteers to establish communications and fund-raising sub committees.

Seminar by UK Chief Instructor

 

There will be a seminar by UK Chief Instructor Iain Armstrong on the 17 th and 18 th December 05 at the Martial Arts centre, Epsom, Alexandra Park.

This seminar will cover Chi Gung and internal strength in depth, with reference to both the Shuang Yang and Tiger Crane Arts as well as practical self defence application!

More details in the near future.

Remember, if you want to succeed in your Kung Fu training there are only 2 things you need to do. The first is to start and the second thing is to not give up!
