Self Development Through Shaolin Martial Arts

Hard and Soft Style Chi Kung

Chi Kung is the art of exercising the body's energy system. It involves simple exercises performed in a soft relaxed fashion combined with meditation. Ideal for relieving stress and tension, it also improves health, posture and breathing. Chi Kung has few of the complexities of Tai Chi so it is ideal for beginners.

Chi Kung also forms an integral part of Shaolin Tiger-Crane Kung Fu training. As a principal, good technique demonstrates fluid projection of internal strength. During a standard training routine we practice traditional Chi Kung and Shaolin strengthening exercises to condition the body, including warm-up, stretching and warm-down techniques. We also use traditional healing methods and medicines, which prove an effective alternative to Western methods.

The Nam Yang Martial Arts Association also practices Shaolin Iron Shirt Chi Kung, a closely guarded system producing serious results. Potential students are vetted for suitability.

Chi Kung is suitable for adults of all ages, and the elderly and the unfit especially may benefit greatly from its holistic approach to maintaining and improving all aspects of human health through relaxing, yet energising techniques.
